2008 Ina Fuson Memorial Scholarship Winners

Liz Allman - Education Chairman, presents Brentwood High School students, Emma Green and Taryn Ellis, with the Ina Fuson Memorial Scholarship award.

Emma is the daughter of Libby Older and David Green. She will be studying Political Science at Georgetown University.

Taryn is the daughter of Niki Ellis and she will be studying medicine at the University of N. Carolina.

Eligibility

Any female high school student residing within the city limits of Brentwood and attending a Williamson county public school or Middle College is eligible to apply. She must be planning to enroll in an accredited college or university within the boundaries of the United States during the year 2009-20010.

Criteria for receiving the award

  • Financial Need
  • Academic Record (A copy of your transcript with either SAT or ACT score MUST accompany the application).
  • References (One from a teacher, and one from another individual in the community - a minister, employer, etc.).
Please respond to the following questions on a separate sheet of paper.
  • List your name, address, phone number, and date of birth.
  • Briefly explain your reasons for selecting your college or university.
  • Have you selected a field of study? If so, what and why does that appeal to you?
  • Please list your school, community and/or church service ice activities.
  • Are you presently employed? How many hours do you work during the school year/summer?
  • Have you applied for need-based financial aid? Will your parents be able to help you financially?
  • Briefly describe any activities, employment, or experiences that may relate to your career goals or that you feel have prepared you to be successful in college.

General Information

The deadline for filing your application is February 1, 2009. All items, whether from you, your references, or your school must be mailed to:

The Scholarship Committee will notify the winners by telephone.

All information is strictly confidential. The judging committee is not given the names of applicants, therefore, we ask that no photos or items not specifically requested be sent. It is important to remind references to get letters in on time. Applications that are not complete by the deadline will not be considered.
