The Membership Committee promotes interest and membership in the Brentwood Woman's Club within the community and follows up with prospective members. The names of potential members come to us from sponsoring members as well as newcomers who have been involved in women's clubs elsewhere. The membership committee mails invitations to prospective members inviting them to attend our regular meetings as guests and keeps records of their attendance.

This committee organizes orientation sessions with the prospective members, representatives from the membership committee and members of the Executive and General Boards. The committee is also responsible for new member luncheons and conducts the new member installations. It maintains an accurate record of each member's length of service to BWC and purchases and presents Year award pins at the annual May membership luncheon. The committee also provides name tags at each scheduled meeting, greets newcomers and introduces them to the club membership during our social time.

Membership Brunch

The Brentwood Woman's Club "Step Up to Volunteer" Membership Brunch was held on August 20, 2009 at the Brentwood Library on Concord Road. There was a terrific team effort between the BWC Membership Committee and our general membership in donating food and assisting with making this a fun event to promote membership.

Our brunch meno included: mini-quiches, fresh fruit in a watermelon basket, cheese and fruit trays, a variety of breads and muffins, tea punch and water, served on white tableclothed tables with floral arrangements on each table. Special thanks to all our 16 members who donated refreshments, flowers, high heeled patterned bags as favors (tied with the Step Up Theme), and their time in helping coordinate this event.

There were 12 guests at the membership brunch of which 9 attended our BWC general meeting on September 1st!
These guests have been invited to attend the next Orientation meeting/luncheon at Dawn Kincaid's home on September 21, 2009, when they will be given the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about our organization and projects.

A copy of the September BWC newsletter was forwarded with these invitations, as well as a note encourging them to take a look at our website: www.bwctn.com, to give them a good overview of the departments and committees.

The work of the Membership Committee is vital to the substance and quality of our club. The balance of new members and seasoned members is needed to enhance our ability to serve the community. Our goal is to inspire our new members and share the enthusiasm and passion of our seasoned members in an effort to reach our goals. We are all collectively responsible for the great results of our club and our philanthropic endeavors.
