2010 Fundraising Plans Underway Step Up: It's a Charity Affair is signature annual fundraising effort for the benefit of BWC's sponsored programs. The challenges of the economy is an on-going concern for non-profit organizations and the efforts of the BWC membership will once again play an important part as the club endeavors to raise monies to fund our budget. The March 9, 2010 event planning is now underway for the annual Step Up: It's a Charity Affair to be held at the Brentwood Country Club. A delicious lunch, a shoe contest, an information fair, the silent auction and welcoming Brenda Lee as our featured guest. The recipient of the GFWC Brentwood Woman's Club "Brentwood Woman of the Year" is Joyce Keistler of the Martin Center. She will be recognized and honored at the luncheon.. This is our major fundraiser of the year, and the source of all funds for our other projects, our ability to complete our charity work depends upon its success. Each of our members has a favorite project or two that is supported through BWC. Think of those special projects and how much they mean to you when you decide how you wish to contribute to the fundraising effort. The success of the Silent Auction will depend BWC members asking for silent auction donations as we shop in your favorite establishments in the area. 2009 FALL FUNDRAISER Brentwood Woman's Club members and guests had great fun on October 26th as we enjoyed being entertained by our very special guest speaker Martha Bolton comedy writer for Bob Hope and the author of the Cafeteria Lady. Martha Bolton has written comedy for such performers as Bob Hope, Phyllis Diller, Ann Jillian, Jeff Allen, Mark Lowry, Fritz Coleman, and more. A speaker and author of over 50 books, Martha is also the Cafeteria Lady for Brio Magazine. (If you're looking for The Cafeteria Lady's newest receipe book, you'll find it listed under Notable Toxic Waste Dumps of the South.) Martha has also written for both Bob Hope's and Wayne Newton's USO shows. Members and guests enjoyed the luncheon at the Nashville Woman's Club on Hillsboro Road with the festivities starting at 10:00 am. Mimosa's were served as guests arrive and there werel be door prizes. Remember the Magic.... These three little words can certainly conjure up lots of images and memories for all of us. For Brentwood Woman's Club it conjures up memories of a wonderful evening at our 2008 Spring Fund Raiser. A wonderful time was had by all in attendance as we danced the night away to the music of Virgil Gibson, former lead singer with the Paul Robi world famous Platters singing group.
