Committees

Brentwood Woman's Club provides services to the community through its departments. Our committees keep our club running. To learn about their activities click on their link.

Finance
This committee is responsible for planning and coordinating club fundraising. It helps obtain donations of money and goods to finance club projects.

Hospitality
This committee arranges refreshments for our monthly meetings. The committee members help setup and cleanup before and after the General Meetings. The committee is also responsible for planning any special membership luncheons, coffees, parties or other social gatherings as deemed necessary by the club.

Membership

The purpose of this committee is to promote interest in Brentwood Woman's Club within the community and to follow up with prospective members. The names of these prospects come to us from sponsoring members as well as newcomers who have been involved in women's clubs elsewhere. The membership committee mails invitations to prospective members inviting them to attend our regular meetings as guests and keeps records of their attendance.

This committee organizes orientation sessions with the board, to be held a minimum of once a year. These orientations are to include the prospective members, the membership committee, the members of the executive and general boards. The orientation should be held in a surrounding conducive to a comfortable questions and answer dialog, giving the perspective member the opportunity to ask questions about the organization and determine where they will find the best fit. The committee is also responsible for new member luncheons and conducts the new members installations. It maintains an accurate record of a member's length of service to BWC and purchases and presents year pins at the annual May membership luncheon. The committee also provides name tags at each scheduled meeting, greets newcomers and introduces them to the club membership during our social time.

Public Relations
This committee reports club activities to the local newspapers, Club Woman, and TF News. Spring and fall publicity photographs should be arranged for newly elected officers and given to the newspapers. Other events that must be publicized are: Membership Luncheons, Poetry Contest winners and poems, annual fundraiser, scholarship winners, and anything else that will inform the community about the efforts and accomplishments of Brentwood Woman's Club. The committee is also responsible for clipping published information and giving it to the club Historian for the scrapbook. The Public Relations committee is responsible for putting together a PR notebook for submission in the GFWC publicity contest.

Sunshine & Telephone /E-mail Communications

The Sunshine and Telephone/E-mail Communications Committee provides assistance and/or food as needed for members with an illness or problem. They also remember birthdays with a card and offer condolences and/or congratulations as necessary. Club members are responsible for keeping this committee aware of needs as they occur.

Upon the death of a club member or member of her family, this committee purchases a book in memory of the deceased individual and presents it to the Brentwood Library in accordance with the club's standing rules.

This committee keeps club members informed of activities by telephoning or E-mailing members to relay or obtain information as requested by the President or the Executive Board.

Newsletter The newsletter is published monthly to inform the membership of the activities of the club, the District and the State GFWC. Responsibilities include collecting information from each Department and Committee and organizing that into a format that can be mailed or 3-mailed to the membership. There is money in the budget to have this printed at a copy company and mailed if you are not able to e-mail.
