The Arts Department provides a framework for members to pursue a variety of artistic interests while simultaneously educating our communities on the important role art plays in our lives.
The Arts in the Community Program promotes and supports all aspects of the arts in local communities, including art preservation, arts and crafts, and literature and the performing arts.
The GFWC yearly art contests give members an opportunity to explore their creativity in photography, literature, and poetry. GFWC also sponsors annual youth writing contests that are judged on the local, state and national levels.
The Youth Poetry Contest is held annually to encourage members and youth to develop creative writing skills and to recognize their achievements. We want to extend a special thanks to all of you who delivered the posters to the various schools, to those who collected the poetry submissions, and to those who judged the entries. .
Posters will be available at the September 2nd meeting to be delivered to the various schools- Friday - November 7th - Members need to collect student's poems (and posters) from respective schools.
- Friday - November 14th - Members meet to judge the student's poems. The judging will be at Mary Phillips' home - Lunch will be served.
We appreciate your support and involvement with the Poetry Contest and should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kathy Casey or Mary Phillips
