Welcome to the Brentwood Woman's Club of Tennessee. We meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month (September - May) from 9 am to 11 am at the Brentwood Public Library. The library is located on the corner of Concord Road and Knox Valley Dr., across from River Park.
Who We Are:
We are volunteer Tennessee women working on projects and programs to improve our communities, our state, our nation, and our world.
We are women of all ages, interests and experience belonging to the General Federation of Woman's Clubs (GFWC), the largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational, international volunteer service organization of women in the world. Our Purpose:
To promote all aspects of education bringing about a more literate society. To stress the importance of good citizenship, spiritual values, and good health for all people. To make realistic contributions toward world peace and international understanding. To take an active role in leadership for the preservation of our country's resources. To sponsor the arts and encourage young talent. The Music City District of GFWC of Tennessee called its membership to attend the annual Spring District Meeting which was held March 26, 2009, at Old Hickory Country Club, Old Hickory, TN. The meeting was hosted by the GFWC Brandywine Woman's Club & GFWC Bellevue Woman's Club.
Kathy Casey, Dawn Kincaid, Margie Jones, Nona Weatherby, Elaine Badelt, Mary Phillips and Phyllis Streiff at the GFWC Music City District Meeting. International Dinner Social in Planning Stages: our Second Vice President, Phyllis Streiff has been investigating a location and event for our members and their husband's for sometime this summer. It is to be a time to get together and enjoy each other in a different setting. Phyllis will have more information at the May Board meeting. Anyone interested in helping contact Phyllis. At our May meeting we acknowledged awards, recognized our Member and New Member of the Year, and our scholarship recipients. Final Board Meeting 2008-9: President, Nona Weatherby, would like to invite any member, who has never served on the board, to attend the last board meeting of this club year. We will be meeting at Amerigo's Italian restaurant, in Nashville. The prepaid cost of the meal is $20.00 and should be paid to the club treasurer, Kathy Casey.
The invitation is being extended to give those members of the club an insight into the running of the club, and the role of a department or committee chairwoman. By coming to the year-end wrap up meeting you will have an opportunity to give your input on the effectiveness of our current projects.
The Board of Directors will also be discussing the direction of the club for the upcoming year and members' views are always important. This meeting may open you to a new position within the organization of the BWC. Contact Nona Weatherby with any questions of comments.
May Member of the Month: Mary Marble, Cochairman of the Conservation Department, was honored with the distinction of "Member of the Month". Although Mary has recently gone back to working outside the home and was unable to attend the meeting, Dawn Kincaid acknowledged Mary's enthusiasm for the environment.
Thank you Mary for keeping the Brentwood Woman's Club members informed about the Historic Trees, Sissy our Elephant, the goings on at Owls Hill, recycling dates and so much more.
